Clifton Diocese is the Catholic diocese covering the West of England and includes the City and County of Bristol, the counties of Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset. There are 75 Church schools and colleges in the Diocese: 54 maintained primary, 9 maintained secondary, 9 independent, 2 residential special and 1 sixth form college. Their work is supported by the Diocesan Department for Schools and Colleges. The diocese was legally established as a charity on 6 May 1934 under the title Clifton Catholic Diocesan Trustees Registered. Our charity number is 233977. The administrative offices are based in Bristol. The Diocese of Gloucester is one of the 44 dioceses of the Church of England covering almost the entire county of Gloucester and parts of Worcestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire.
