Table Tennis League at All Saints’ Academy
Monday 21st from 4pm-6pm at All Saints’ Academy saw the 1st of the 3 fixtures evenings of The Cheltenham and North Tewkesbury School’s Butterfly Table Tennis League.
Saw 5 schools (6 teams), teams of 6 KS3 boys and girls playing table tennis, many for the first time in a competitive environment. All Saints’ a, Balcarras, Cleeve, Bournside, Tewkesbury and due to a team dropping out at late notice an All Saints’ B team stepped up!
Everyone did a great job, students played 6 games each in total, and when they weren’t playing they had to umpire- a lot of them had not done this role before but did a great job!
There was great sportsmanship all around; competitors talking to each other, explaining rules, advising on technique and encouragement within and between teams- it was great to see!
The event was set up as part of The School Games, developing competitive opportunities for all young people. Many of the teams were created as a Change 4 Life Club or recreational activity within school.
The current leaders in the league are Bournside School, but this could all change with 2 more evenings of fixtures left to play!
