Official Opening of All Saints' Academy

STUDENTS AND STAFF REJOICED AS ALL SAINTS’ ACADEMY WAS OFFICIALLY OPENED BY BISHOP DECLAN, BISHOP MICHAEL AND SIR STEVE REDGRAVE.

The Academy was opened on All Saints’ Day and started with the Bishops blessing each wing of the Academy.  Bishop Declan and Bishop Michael then lead a religious service for invited dignitaries and students.

Both Bishops unveiled a plaque for the opening outside the Academy.  Students then released balloons to commemorate the occasion.

At the same time in a different part of the Academy, Britain’s greatest ever Olympian Sir Steve Redgrave officially opened the sports facilities.  He watched a rowing race, which the students were taking part in and gave them encouraging words and tips for enhancing their skills.  Gleeds Ambassador Sir Steve Redgrave even stopped to have a game of table tennis with the students, which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Later in the day Sir Steve Redgrave gave all the students at All Saints’ Academy a motivational presentation on goal setting.  He also presented prizes to the winners of the rowing competition.

The students were all in awe at meeting the Bishop Declan, Bishop Michael and Sir Steve Redgrave and there was a fantastic buzz around the Academy.

Please take a look at our video above, Sixth Form students Yolanda Terea, Charlotte Jones, Bethan Sheppard and Stephanie Hunt photographed the whole event.
