Chinese Buffet
Normally Flexible Friday is marked by an early finish and a well-earned start to the weekend. Last Friday was an exception to the norm when a group of 15 year 11 Hospitability & Catering students, having spent the day preparing a whole range of Chinese foods, took the time after school to deliver a banquet that would not have looked or tasted out of place at the best of Chinese restaurants.
The food on offer at the all-you-can-eat buffet started with traditional fair including Spare Ribs & Crispy Spring Rolls and followed with dishes including Sweet and Sour Chicken, Stir Fry Prawns & Sliced Beef with Bamboo shoots. It was a difficult task for the students to complete, however the many hours of planning & preparation, in conjunction with the expert guidance of their teachers Margaret Coleman and Anne Magee was clearly evident in the empty plates at the end of the meal.
In addition to the delicious food, the students had taken the time to produce professional menus and realistic décor, even making use of traditional Chinese script for the art work and they made good use of the electronic screens to ensure that they managed to faithfully recreate the feel of a high class restaurant. Overall an excellent start to the weekend.
All Saints’ Academy staff ordered in and also took away several dishes for a price to rival most Chinese restaurants. Watch out Gordon Ramsay our students are aiming high.
